Crown Brushes...

Hey guys! So if you've read several of my blog posts you'll probably of noticed my love for real techniques brushes and, although they are my favourite, they don't  have many eyeshadow brushes which meant I had to look for a new brand to get them from. The most obvious would probably be MAC however the prices there are very high and I didn't want to be spending around £15 for one brush! So,  I decided to do some research for any brands that were similar and I found a few but one that kept reoccurring was Crown. I'd never heard of them so I decided to take a look on their website and was shocked by how affordable they were. The brushes were around £3, some cheaper! I got these in December so I've used them a few times and washed them but they are still really good and I haven't seen a change in them when I washed them. I only have one MAC brush which is the 217 so I can't compare them greatly however compared to the 217, in some ways I prefer the crown ones as they are softer. The only thing I don't like about them is how some don't have brush names or numbers on and how they are different length brushes but that's probably just me being picky!
These are the ones I got and what dupe they are to MAC's brushes.

Miracle in a Jar

Hey guys! Quite a while ago I went to one of Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar's events and whilst there origins were doing mini facials and massages with some of their new products. Me and my friend decided to have one to give it a try. The women who done it used their GinZing energy boosting moisturiser and it was lovely(I'd definitely have another) After the massage my face felt so hydrated and smelt amazing!! As it was a few weeks before my birthday I decided to add the moisturiser to my wishlist and I was lucky enough to receive it for my birthday. I've had this since the end of November and there is still so much left so it is worth the money. As the name suggests, this is quite a zingy smell. I'd say its quite strong and has a orange based smell but I personally love the smell! It's quite oily and dewy so I wouldn't suggest it for oily skin but for dry or normal(like mine) it is perfect. I don't use it every night as I alternate between this and a soap and glory one but I mainly use this if my skin feels tight or a little dry that day, or if I just want to give my skin a boost. It does say on the back to use this am and pm but I only use it of a night because I think it may give you a shine to the skin through the day or cause your makeup to look oily. It is like a miracle though as it is so hydrating and your skin feels so good after you use it. I think origins also do an eyecream in this range so I'm actually considering purchasing this soon too.

Little Brown Box

Hey guys! Whilst on my way to becoming healthy I began realising what the problem for me probably is.. snacking! I do actually eat quite healthy however, I've realised of a night I probably snack quite a bit which can actually be really bad depending on what it is. For lent this year I decided to give up chocolate and so far it is going brilliant, I haven't ate any(although it is quite a struggle) therefore I've noticed a lack in snacking. However, it is slightly annoying because when I do just want a little snack there isn't much I can actually eat. That was until I received a voucher code from Graze offering my first snack box free. I thought, as it was free, that I'd give it a go. And if you read to the end then there is something for you guys to use as well..
So I went online, entered in some basic details and then got  a selection of foods that you could say if you wanted to 'bin', 'try', 'love' and 'send soon'. After selecting a few snacks that I wanted to try soon all that was left was to wait for mine to come. What was also really good was on most snacks they had the calorie count and also what they contained in case you had allergies.
When I came home today I was excited to see my box had came! I immediately opened it up to see what was inside. Mine contained: banana split, summer berry flapjack, boston baguettes and toffee apple. Hearing that you may be thinking how are they healthy snacks... Well, the good thing about Graze is that each snack is actually inspired by yummy treats. For instance; the banana split is actually dried banana slices with tiny fudge pieces, almond slivers and pumpkin seeds.

I haven't tried anything yet but I'm so excited to.. I'll tweet what I think of them and what my fav was so if you want to see what I think then I'll leave my twitter below.. So, you didn't think I was just going to tell you about something without giving use something back did you?  If you would  like to also try out a graze box follow the link here and you can get your first box for free also!!

Makeup, makeup and... makeup!

Hey guys! A few weeks ago I went into town just for a look around but it ended in me buying quite a bit of new makeup, oops! So, I thought I may aswell do a blog post and show you guys what I bought. Plus, it makes me feel less guilty for buying it if I convince myself it was for the purpose of a blog post...

At least it doesn't look like a lot...

The first shop I found myself wondering into was MAC. Usually, this would be a huge mistake because I'd end up buying far too much however I had a few vouchers from Christmas so I used them in there.
I picked up the brush cleanser because my brushes were in desperate need of a good clean so  I thought  I may aswell. I've only used it once so far but it is really good at getting your brushes super clean and it doesn't take long at all.

I also decided to try out Studio Fix plus powder because I've heard so many mixed reviews and I wanted to try it for myself so I asked someone if they could colour match  me(I am NW25) and for the few times I've used it I quite like it. I wanted to use it without foundation but it is a little patchy, if you have any tips then let me know, but as a matte powder over foundation it is brilliant if your looking for a flawless coverage.

The last thing I got in MAC was a blusher. This one is 'Dame'. I was in there for ages swatching the blushes but in the end I decided on this one as it was a really nice pink shade and I usually go for peaches so this was a nice change. It also has a little shimmer but not too much so it gives a gorgeous glow.
The camera isn't doing this colour justice..
Next shop I ran into was superdrug to get a maybelline brow drama because everyone and anyone has been raving about this so I wanted to give it a try. I picked up medium brown but I haven't had a chance to try this yet.

If you haven't heard, or your not from the uk, Primark have released their very own range of makeup, PS Love, and apparently it is really good quality for the price so I decided to grab a few items to give a try.
I picked up firstly, the pressed powder foundation brush because I don't have a flat top brush and I wanted to try it. The quality isn't  too bad considering it was only £1.50 obviously it's not like a MAC brush or any big brand but it seems to be good so far, whether that changes when I wash it I don't know.

Then I got an eyelash curler because mine was falling apart and this was only £1 so I thought it was worth a try and I actually prefer this to my clinique one so well done primark!

Whilst near the makeup brushes, I saw these little packs of tweezers which had one regular one and one pointed one which looked ideal for applying eyelashes so I got them too. They are such a cute butterfly pattern which made me get them aswell...

Then, for makeup items, I firstly picked up this liquid eyeliner as the brush was a little thicker and more flexible rather than my other ones I have so I wanted to see what it was like.

I also got two eyebrow pencils, a lighter shade and a darker. These also have two spoolys on one end which is always handy.

Then I picked up two lip stain pens. One is a vibrant orangey toned red and the other is a red toned pink which are two colours that are in for spring/summer.

Finally, I bought this lip crayon which is a really pretty sheer nude. I got this because I really loved the colour and I don't have many nudes in my lip colours so I wanted to add this to my collection.

And that is everything!! Sorry if you don't really enjoy hauls but I love reading them, probably because I'm nosey, and I know other like them too. Also, sorry for not explaining the PS Love range much or swatching. It is because I'm planning on going back and getting some more items and then doing a more detailed review in another blog post.. If you would like that, let me know!

Victoria Sponge Cake

Hey guys! Sorry for slacking the last two weeks with the blog posts but I haven't had a chance so whilst I have a little spare time I thought I'd write this and get it up asap. I was going to do a makeup haul but I was baking so I thought I'd use the opportunity to do a Recipe post. Hopefully you'll like it and I'll get started now!

What you will need;

175g unsalted butter
175g caster sugar
3 eggs, beaten
175g self-raising flour
jam(however much you like)
100ml double cream(optional)
1 tbsp icing sugar(optional)

Firstly, of course, wash your hands and pre heat your oven to 180`c/350`f/gas mark 4 and grease two 20 cm sandwich tins with butter or line them with greaseproof paper. Anything that will prevent it sticking.

Then it's onto the actual baking part. Begin by creaming the butter and caster sugar together until it is pale and fluffy.

Next, start adding in the beaten eggs gradually whist continuing to beat the mixture(you could use an electric whisk but I chose not to) It will look a little bit disgusting at this point but don't worry, it won't at the end!

After this, sift in the flour and use a metal spoon to fold the flour in to the mixture to prevent losing the fluffiness and lightness of the mixture.

Then evenly distribute the mixture between your two sandwich tins and use a knife or spatula to level the mixture out so both tins look similar.

Now all you have to do is place both tins in the oven but be careful as it will be hot so use oven proof gloves or ask for someone's help, you don't want to burn yourself!

Simply leave them to cook then for 25-30 minutes or until well risen, golden brown and beginning to shrink away from the edges. You can use a knife to check if they're cooked, just make a small hole using the knife and if it comes out the cake clean then they are cooked.
Using your oven proof gloves or help from someone, take your cakes out the oven and leave them to cool a few minutes before taking them out the sandwich tins and leaving to cool longer.

Whilst waiting for the cakes to cool you can whisk the double cream(if you are using it) If you don't have an electric whisk then this could take a while but if you do then I'd suggest using that to just simply whisk the cream until thick.

Once your cakes are cool you can then spread a layer of jam on one cake.

And spread your cream onto the other cake.

Then layer one on top of the other and you are done! Unless you want to sprinkle some icing sugar on the top or you can decorate it however you'd like.
And Voilaaaaa!!

Now all that's left is to cut into it and take a bite! I actually really liked this cake, if I do say so  myself! It is soo tasty and a really nice snack or pudding. Although it's not the healthiest, it is fine in moderate proportion and everyone is allowed a treat... or two..

So, I hope you have enjoyed this blog post. I really enjoy doing recipe ones so if you would like me to do other then let me know, it's an excuse for me to bake. I could do some healthy foods or  meals instead of just cakes and sweet things, if that's what you want.
